This album was made to establish where we were musically at that particular time in our careers not to turn a profit by marketing them to listeners who have not yet seen us. WHO IS JUSTINHALE?
JUSTIN is the BAND. Similar to Pink in Pink Floyd or Jethro in Jethro Tull, there is no Justin... "And by the way, Which one's Pink?" WHERE DID THE NAME JUSTINHALE COME FROM?
Finding the right name for a band is often the most challenging task... We performed as FINAL CUT, TRIP, and many other names and decided to change it before pressing the CD to a name that no other band had. After weeks or perhaps months of constant struggles to think of a title, at rehearsal one evening we were laughing about THE SIMPSONS, particularly Bart's crank phone calls to Moe's Tavern and his play on words like Mike Rotch, Amanda Hugandkiss, and Hugh Chazz, when Mike, our guitarist at that time, concocted "Justin Hale." We all had a good laugh and discussed its brilliance and political undertones to rebuttal Clinton's recent statement at that time of how he tried smoking marijuana but never inhaled, But we never realized how confusing or misleading it would be for some people when all we were aiming for was a fun name to describe our fun band.
For the record we would like to say:
No one in the band supports the use of illegal substances or partakes in them. No one even smokes cigarettes because we all worry about our health and singing voices. And we titled the album, "Perish the Thought" to express that we do not condone the use of inhaling illegal drugs.
We have learned that our name is more than confusing for people and unfortunately, we have seen and heard that people who do not know us and hear our name on the radio, see it listed in the paper, or see it on a marquee outside a club often perceive us to be one person and not a complete four-piece rock band, which sparked us to create the slogan,
